Parents are strongly encouraged to become involved in Bend North Softball. After completing a Little League volunteer application and passing a required national background check, parents may become involved in practices, and be eligible as coaches, managers, umpires, local league board members and other volunteer positions within the league. The success of our league is dependent on our volunteers!

If you are interested in our open Board Member positions, please contact Dominic Gatto. Below are descriptions of our board positions.

2023 SOFTBALL BOARD MEMBER POSITION DESCRIPTIONS

Softball President
The President needs to be able to ensure that the big picture is being taken care of by the board members/volunteers that own the details. Being able to work with a broad range of personalities is a plus. Aside from solid leadership skills, an effective league president will also bring knowledge, experience, and common sense to the position, along with efficient organization and administration abilities. The prospective league president also needs to be willing to dedicate time and energy to guarantee that players, families, and volunteers all enjoy a fun, memorable BNLL experience.

Softball Vice President
The heart and guts of the league! You are the main point of contact for coaches throughout the season. At registration times you are making sure everyone is within BNLL boundaries, has determined the correct LL age and registered for the right level. You work side-by-side with the Softball President and assist with assessments by making sure families know when to show up and then checking in players. When it comes time to form teams, you provide the data for the drafts and help to run those meetings. A big job, but one of the very most rewarding!

Softball Secretary
This is not your run-of-the-mill admin role - this is a driving force in our organization! Attendance at board meetings is essential but other than that, you keep the league organized on your own time. Work with the President to build meeting agendas, write up minutes from meetings so that everything is captured for posterity, ensure we have all our facilities reserved and even feel free to be our main Communications person!

Softball Development Manager
Being a good Little League coach is so much more than providing on-field instruction. It’s ensuring that players are learning, growing, and having fun, in all aspects of the game. The Development Manager ensures that these vital volunteers have the resources they need to make the season a successful one for all participants and parents through clinics, binders, emails, and other various continuing education.

Softball Equipment Manager
Are you detailed? Organized? Do you take care of your toys with pride? Then this is the role for you! In a nutshell, you coordinate purchase of all player equipment, present Board with budget for equipment needs, evaluate condition of equipment for replacement and ensure best acquisition costs for all equipment.

Softball Field Maintenance Manager
Enjoy having immaculate fields? We want YOU!! We have multiple fields in the league and to keep them in the best condition, you will: schedule pre-season work parties, monitor supplies in the associated box and identify anything that breaks or needs replacement. This role will be the key to BNLL fields being all that they can be.

Softball Division Commissioners
We have a Commissioner for each of our divisions. The Commissioners will be the "expert" for their level - they will know the local rules inside and out, run the assessments and drafts for their level, create the schedule for that level, and be the primary point of contact for the coaches at their level throughout the season. Worried that you don't know enough to do the role? Don't - we’re always there to help!
